Liverpool 6 Derby 0

EPL matches over the weekend included Liverpool beating Derby 6-0 and topping the EPL table. 2 goals each from Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel's first ever Liverpool goal and one more from sub Andrei Voronin finished the job perfectly.

Merdeka Night Celebration

Having not been able to celebrate National Day in KL, I browsed through the articles in thestar.com.my to see what I missed out. Came across this picture in gallery. The caption says, "Grand display: A tribute in the form of a multimedia presentation to Abdullah's contribution to human capital development at Stadium Merdeka last night. - 1 September, 2007"

Actually I was a bit surprised to see this. We are celebrating our 50th National Day. But why a tribute specially to our current PM? So, is this a celebration of 50 years of independence or is this a tribute to the contributions of our current PM, who has been in the seat for since 2003.

Ok, so you might say that the PM is the leader and should be paid tribute to, fine. But what about our last four PMs. Why no tribute to them who fought for independence, built our nation and led the country to what it is today. Why not pay respect for their 45 years of hard work and leadership? Are the contributions of the past PMs in the past 45 years not as good as the work of one PM in the past 5 years?

I understand that there was also a small showing of the past and currents PMs during the morning march the next day. All 5 PMs were shown during the march. How is it that only one PM of 5 years leadership was shown during the night celebration?

One should remember that our National Day is the celebration of Independence of Malaysia. Especially this National Day where we are celebrating 50 years of true independence. 50 years of growth. 50 years of development. 50 years of nation building. Not 5 years of the leadership of one man.

I don't blame the PM. Most probably someone from the organiser who thought they should put on such a show to get on the good side of the big boss. Shoe polishing maybe.

Urine Detection Device

I saw this sign in a lift yesterday. OMG! What the heck is a urine detection device? So if you piss in the lift, out comes a camera and snaps your picture. That's my first guess. And the best part was, it was found in a lift that was over 20 years old.

But firstly, how do you detect urine or when someone is pissing. Detection by smell? hmmmm. I don't think that the machine is that advanced yet. Moreover in a 20 year old lift. Or maybe if it detects water on the floor. Don't think so. If someone is washing the floor or on a rainy day, then the camera would snap like mad.

I actually looked and investigated thoroughly the internal of the lift. Not a single camera to be found. It could have been a hidden, hidden camera. One that is so hidden, you cannot see it. But once urine is detected, it jumps out and snaps your picture.

To be honest, instead of using such a high-tech device, a small camera in the lift would be more than sufficient and it would deter crimes from happening in the lifts as well. If you really need a urine detection device, I think the most efficient one would be to hire a person and hide him in a compartment in the lift. When he smells or hears someone pissing, then he sticks his head out and snaps the picture. Definitely more efficient and cheaper.

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Today is 31 August 2007. It's means today is Malaysia's National Day. I guess I should write something about Merdeka. Don't get me wrong. Even though I am working in Singapore, I love Malaysia. I am as patriotic as any Malaysian can be.

Malaysia achieved independence from the British rule in 1957. Which means, it's been 50 years of independence. It should be a grand occasion. 50 years of independence. 50 years of freedom. 50 years of being Malaysia. Have we truly achieved what we set out to achieve 50 years ago? This is not a political post. Just looking back at what has been achieved over the past 50 years.

In Malaysia, people of all races and culture live together in harmony, with respect and love. Because of that, Malaysia Boleh!

The country has developed vigorously over the past 5 decades. Our economy was at a peak in the 1990s before the Asian Financial Crisis. We weathered the crisis while some countries sank. Because of that, Malaysia Boleh!

Malaysia has its own national car and even host the F1 race. Because of that, Malaysia Boleh!

Nicol David is the top women squash player in the world. Because of that, Malaysia Boleh!

While some things have improved for the better, some things remain the same. As Msia's 50th birthday approached, the celebrations have been clouded by many current issues. Those issues I shall not mention here. But are we bluffing ourselves? Some issues, the government have instructed to be placed a gag order.
"We shall not question the authority of the government."
I agree that some things should not be said, but recently, this authority have been used too frequently. Does our 50 years of freedom include the freedom of speech? Again we ask ourselves, have we truly achieved what we CAN achieve in 50 years?

I love Malaysia. I was born in Malaysia. I was raised in Malaysia. My heart lies in Malaysia. 50 years of independence. 50 years of being one country. 50 years of being one nation. Where will we be 50 years from now ...

Local Indonesian Pork in Singapore

Found this at Giant, Singapore. A bit confusing thought. What do you mean by Local Fresh Indonesian Pork in Singapore? Local means in Singapore. So that makes it Singaporean pork, but it's local Indonesian pork, so it's probably pork from Indonesia. But wait, how can it be local, if it's from Indonesia. Arrrgggghhhhh. I am getting a headache.

Wait! I got it. It's meat from a pig that was born in Indonesia, but moved to Singapore and grew up and finally slaughthered in Singapore. Yar, that's it. Or maybe it's a Singapore pig who grew up in Indonesia. Man, they actually sell meat based on the citizenship of the animals. What next? Local fresh Malaysian fruits? Locally bottled Vietnam water?

Words Women USe

I managed to extract more words from the Dictionary of Women's English.

Fine ..This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

Five minutes .. If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

Nothing .. This is the calm before the storm. This means "something", and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with 'Nothing' usually end in "Fine".

Go ahead .. This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it.

Loud sigh .. This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "loud sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing".

That's okay .. This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "Th at's okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

You know, I always thought that there was only one type of Dictionary for English. I knew some words have more than one meaning, but recently I received an email that clearly proves that there is a need for 2 dictionaries. One for men and one for women. Here are some extracts from the 2 dictionaries.

Ferrari for babies

Lifestyle for people are really changing. I was looking around in the toys store the other day and guess wat I found. Ferrari for the young! And they start really young now, babies.


This stroller is by Ferari. Boy, do they start getting the customers early. Your kids can now tell people that they were riding in a Ferrari since they were babies. Or maybe to satisfy the need of the parents who alwiz wanted one. Now they can push the baby around thinking they are driving a Ferrari. Maybe have a F1 race of strollers.

If you dun use strollers, dun be despair. I found something else.



Baby seats in the car by Ferrari. Now you can drive around with your kid in a Ferrari, literally. Strap your kid in with the seat belts and you are ready to go, in a Ferrari, ur kid of coz. But plz dun speed. Remember ur kid is seated next to you.

Tell the difference - Ipod Nano

I was hunting around for an Ipod Nano for a friend of mine. For the benefit of a doubt of those who dunno what it is, the pix is as below.



He wanted a 4Gb black Ipod Nano.Went searching searching. Everywhere the price was the same SGD354, but I could not find a black one. Turns out one of the shops told me that the 4Gb dun come in black colour. Bugger.

Anyway, I went to Giant to see if there were any there. Immediately I saw the gadget, selling at a price of SGD59.90!!! Hard to believe. I looked at it again. An Ipod Nano!!!



Then I saw the price tag again. It's another brand. Slix. hahaha.



At first sight, it could be mistaken for an Ipod Nano. For anyone of you who wants a cheap look alike Ipod Nano, buy this one.

Dengue Fever

There seem to be a lot of cases of Dengue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dengue_fever )happening in the Asean area. At first I thought SG was exaggerating until I saw the news. In fact, I just found out that a friend of mine and his wife were warded for dengue.

The first thing that came to the mind of his friends was how and where he got bitten. The initial response was that he got it mingling with his wife in the bushes of Bukit G*s**g.

Anyway, we just hope he recovers. From what I heard, he is alive and well. Probably due to the the brilliant doctors and also the FHM magazine edition with 100 sexiest female. The mag helps his blood flows faster and is a guaranteed cure.
